DC@JH's Core Beliefs are rooted and grounded in the Holy Bible.

The Church Government – We believe the Church’s traditions are governed by the Holy Scriptures, with God as the head of Christ, Christ as the head of the church, the Senior Pastor led by the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 1:18; Colossians 2:10)

The Godhead - We believe there is but one true and living God, everlasting, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness; Maker and Preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. We are convinced that in the unity of the Godhead there are three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 2:9)
The Word of God - We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. The Bible is our one and only rule of faith and practice. Whatsoever authority, tradition, prophecy, revelation, or experience is subject to agreement with the Holy Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Giving – We believe “Tithing,” a tenth of our talents, time, and treasures (finances) is an Old Testament concept of investing in God’s Kingdom. However, We believe “Giving” is an Old Testament and New Testament concept of presenting our talents, time, and treasures to God. (2 Corinthians 9:7-15; 1 Chronicles 29:11-16; Romans 14:7-9; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Peter 1:17; 2:11; 4:10-11; Luke 19:11-26)

Salvation – We believe the Holy Scriptures teach salvation from sin through three stages: First, we have been saved from the PENALTY (past tense) of sin because of Jesus’ death on the cross. Secondly, we are being saved from the POWER (present tense) of sin because of the progressive work of the indwelling Spirit of God. Thirdly, we shall be saved from the PRESENCE (future tense) of sin when we become citizens of heaven. (Romans 8:1-2; Romans 10:9; John 3:16-17)

The Lord’s Supper – We believe that the Lord’s Supper a commandment from God and an act of worship. It is a time in which we remember Jesus Christ’s death and enduring love for us. The bread symbolically represents Christ’s body, which was broken for us. The fruit of the vine symbolically represents His shed blood, which was shed for the remission of our sins. (Luke 22:19-20)

Water Baptism – We believe Water Baptism by immersion (being fully covered by water) is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for all believers. It is an outward reflection of an inward experience. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with and faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19)

Membership in the Local Church - We believe that the local church maintains open membership to all people regardless of their ethnicity. We also believe in the beneficial importance of consistently gathering for worship, study and service. (Hebrews 10:25)
